JOB SUMMARY:

With limited direction, performs analytic and technical tasks related to MedMining project completion, including merging data from various source systems (e.g. Epic, financial systems, departmental databases) to enable the quality and timely delivery of reports for both internal and external analysis. With assistance from Data Analyst-Senior, works in partnership with the Project Manager-MedMining to analyze and make recommendations related to the feasibility of new external data requests.

Receives general supervision from CDIS Program Director, or management designate.  Not responsible for work of others.

w        Demonstrates an understanding of importing/exporting data from numerous source systems to merge and compare in order to create a single dataset.

w        Demonstrates excellent communication skills.

w        Must be able to work effectively in a team environment as well as interface with other departmental groups and external customers as required.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Associate or Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Business or other relevant analytical/data field required.  Minimum of 4 years experience in the Information Technology field may substitute for a degree.

Minimum of 3 years hands-on exposure to Oracle SQL (ex: SQL Plus, PL/SQL, SQL Developer,) and/or MS-SQL (Transact SQL, SQL Server Management Studio) required.

Minimum of 3 years experience working with relational databases, including but not limited to Microsoft Access, including both programmatic and menu-driven data reporting, required. 

Demonstrated understanding of relational databases including the use of indices, joins, unions, minuses, intersections and ability to implement in a real world setting strongly preferred. 

Minimum of 3 years experience working in an Information Technology environment required.

Understanding of clinical and/or financial healthcare systems, such as Epic and Eclipsys, required.

Previous exposure to SQL Loader, SSIS Packages, Crystal Reports, ODBC, ADO, and Business Objects Web Intelligence experience strongly preferred.

Previous exposure to Epic Clarity Inpatient and Outpatient Reporting (or similar electronic health record system) and Eclipsys Decision Support System strongly preferred. 

General understanding of HIPAA de-identification requirements and healthcare code sets (ICD-9, CPT, etc.) strongly preferred.

Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access strongly preferred.
