Weiss Named One of Health Imaging & IT's 100 Names You Need to Know

Aug. 18, DANVILLE — David L. Weiss, MD, Director of Geisinger Medical Center’s Department of Radiology, has been recognized by Health Imaging & IT as one of Who’s Who,“100 Names You Need to Know.”

Health Imaging & IT is a monthly magazine for medical imaging and healthcare IT professionals. From April 15-May 30, hundreds of readers submitted internet ballots to nominate physicians, administrators and thought leaders from a cross section of medical specialties. Dr. Weiss’ specialty is information systems/technology and voice/speech recognition.

As the Director of the Department of Radiology, Dr. Weiss oversees workflow issues in Imaging Informatics. While in private practice, he developed the first integrated PACS/speech recognition product.

Dr. Weiss earned his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia. He was enrolled in the Penn State/Jefferson program, which provided combined BS/MD degrees in five calendar years. Dr. Weiss completed a surgical internship and Diagnostic Radiology residency at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Dr. Weiss has authored many articles as well as book chapters.

Dr. Weiss joined the Geisinger Health System in 2002 from Chestnut Hill Hospital, Philadelphia, where he served as Chairman of the Department of Radiology. Dr. Weiss is currently Clinical Section Head, Imaging Informatics in Radiology, and serves as a consultant for AGFA Healthcare.
