Trauma surgeon John Kizer, MD, joins Geisinger Wyoming Valley

WILKES-BARRE — John Kizer, MD, comes to Geisinger Wyoming Valley as an associate of trauma surgery. He joins Matthew Indeck, MD, Brian Klock, MD, FACS, and Frederick Toy, MD, FACS, FCCM, in the surgery department. Board certified in general surgery and surgical critical care, Dr. Kizer specializes in trauma surgery.

Dr. Kizer previously worked as a trauma surgeon at Community Medical Center’s level II accredited regional trauma center in Scranton.

Dr. Kizer earned his medical degree at the University of California–Davis in Sacramento. He completed his residency in the department of surgery at Boston University, where he was chief resident. Dr. Kizer also completed a fellowship in critical care medicine at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Conn.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Kizer served as an assistant professor of surgery at the West Virginia University in Morgantown, W.V., where he taught medical students and residents as well as undergraduate students.

Dr. Kizer holds memberships in several professional organizations, including the American Medical Association, Society of Critical Care Medicine, and Eastern Association of Surgery & Trauma.

Dr. Kizer resides in Clarks Summit.
