Thomas Sullivan, MD, colorectal surgeon, joins surgery department at GWV

WILKES-BARRE — Thomas C. Sullivan, MD, FACS, joins the surgery team at Geisinger Wyoming Valley. Dr. Sullivan specializes in colorectal surgery and strengthens the colorectal cancer program at The Henry Cancer Center.

Most recently, Dr. Sullivan served as assistant clinical professor of surgery at the University of California in San Diego as well as chief of surgery at Sharp Coronado Hospital in Coronado, California. While practicing in California, Dr. Sullivan was named one of the Top Doctors of San Diego three years in a row by San Diego Magazine. As an expert on inflammatory bowel disease, he also served as president and past president of the board of directors of the San Diego and Desert Chapter of the Crohn's Colitis Foundation.

Board certified in general surgery and colorectal surgery, Dr. Sullivan earned his medical degree from University of Guadalajara in Mexico. He completed both his general surgical residency and a fellowship in colorectal surgery at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Sullivan has also been named a fellow of both the American College of Surgeons and American College of Colon Rectal Surgeons. 

Dr. Sullivan is fluent in Spanish.
