Thomas Henry Lee, MD, named to Geisinger Health System Foundation Board of Directors

thomas henry lee, md, foundation boardJan. 4, DANVILLE  —Thomas Henry Lee, MD, Chief Executive Officer of Partners Community Healthcare, Incorporated, in Boston, Massachusetts, Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, and Professor of Health Policy and Management at the Harvard School of Public Health, has been appointed to the Geisinger Health System Foundation Board of Directors.

“Dr. Lee brings a vast array of expertise and talent to our Board of Directors, and I look forward to working with him,” said Geisinger President and Chief Executive Officer Glenn Steele, Jr., MD. “He is one of the country’s leading experts in medicine, management, research and quality improvement. Geisinger and the people we serve throughout Central and Northeastern Pennsylvania and beyond will all benefit from his involvement.”

A Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine, subspecialty cardiology, and Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, Dr. Lee is a graduate of Harvard College, earned his Medical Degree from Cornell University Medical College, and a Master of Science in Epidemiology from the Harvard School of Public Health.
 

He has also serves as a Senior Physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Affiliate Physician at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Dr. Lee is Editor-in-Chief of Harvard Heart Letter and Associate Editor of The New England Journal of Medicine and has published numerous articles, papers, editorials, reviews and chapters on a variety of health and medical topics. In addition, Dr. Lee has served on the Editorial Boards for the Journal of General Internal Medicine, Journal of Thrombosis and Thrombolysis, American Heart Journal, American Journal of Medicine and Managed Care.

Dr. Lee is associated with many different national organizations, and is Co-Chair of the Committee on Performance Measurement for the National Committee for Quality Assurance. He is also a Member of the Board on Health Care Services at the Institute of Medicine, the American Society for Clinical Investigation, American Federation for Medical Research, American Heart Association, and American Medical Association.

Governed by the Board of Directors, the Geisinger Health System Foundation oversees operations, strategic initiatives and financial matters for all Geisinger entities.
