Surgical services expand at Geisinger - Lake Scranton

Junr 15, 2009, SCRANTON, Pa. — As part of an effort to bring additional specialty services to the Scranton area, Geisinger surgeons Laura Borgos, MD; Corrado Marini, MD; and Thomas Sullivan, MD, now provide surgical services at Geisinger – Lake Scranton in addition to their practices at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Township.

Specializing in breast surgery, Dr. Borgos provides consultations, and pre-operative and post-operative appointments, at Geisinger’s Lake Scranton facility. Board-certified in general surgery and surgical critical care, Dr. Borgos earned her medical degree from Hahnemann School of Medicine in Philadelphia. She completed a residency at Cleveland Clinic Foundation and a fellowship in breast surgery at the University of Maryland Medical System.

Specializing in diseases of the pancreas, Dr. Marini provides consultations, and pre-operative and post-operative appointments, at Lake Scranton. Board-certified in general surgery and critical care medicine, Dr. Marini earned his medical degree and completed a cardiovascular surgery residency from the University of Naples in Italy. He completed a residency in general surgery and a fellowship in vascular surgery at Maimonides Medical Center at SUNY-Downstate in Brooklyn, N.Y. Dr. Marini completed a second fellowship in vascular surgery at Long Island Jewish Medical Center.

Specializing in colorectal surgery, Dr. Sullivan provides consultations, and pre-operative and post-operative appointments, at Lake Scranton. Board-certified in general surgery and colorectal surgery, Dr. Sullivan earned his medical degree from University of Guadalajara in Mexico. He completed his general surgical residency and a fellowship in colorectal surgery at Cook County Hospital in Chicago.

This initiative is the most recent example of Geisinger’s goal to provide enhanced patient services and to advance the level of medical care to the greater Scranton community.
