John J. Buckley named Geisinger Northeast Chief Administrative Officer

Sept. 25, 2009, Wilkes-Barre — John J. Buckley has been named Chief Administrative Officer for Geisinger Northeast.

“Geisinger has made a huge commitment to healthcare in Northeast Pennsylvania, elevating our Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center into an advanced tertiary and quaternary treatment facility and bringing new services to the people of this community,” said President and Chief Executive Officer Glenn Steele, Jr., MD. “We are pleased to have John Buckley and his expertise on our leadership team as we continue to evolve our services and presence in the northeast.”

Prior to joining Geisinger Health System, Buckley was a member of the executive management team at Temple University Health System in Philadelphia and Chief Executive Officer of Temple East/Northeastern Hospital. He was previously President and Chief Executive Officer of Pottstown Healthcare Corporation in Pottstown, PA, which included Pottstown Memorial Medical Center and Pottstown Imaging and Cancer Treatment Center, and also served in various leadership positions with Hospital Corporation of America/ Quorum Health Resources.

Buckley is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. A graduate of Widener University with a Bachelor of Science degree in economics, he earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Temple University.
