John Cantando, DO, neurosurgeon, joins Geisinger Wyoming Valley
WILKES-BARRE — John D. Cantando, DO, comes to Geisinger Wyoming Valley as a neurosurgeon where he joins John Presper, MD, in the neurosurgery department. Dr. Cantando specializes in cerebrovascular and skull base surgeries.
Prior to joining Geisinger, Dr. Cantando completed a cerebrovascular and skull base fellowship at St. Louis University in Missouri. He also served as a clinical instructor within the university’s division on neurosurgery.
Dr. Cantando completed his neurosurgery residency at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center at Western University in Colton, California. While there he earned several awards and honors, including the Medtronic Sofamor Danek Resident Achievement Award, second place.
Board certified in osteopathic surgery, Dr. Cantando earned his medical degree from Nova Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine in Davie, Florida. He holds memberships with the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, American Osteopathic Association and the North American Skull Base Society. Dr. Cantando is also fluent in Italian and conversational in Spanish.
