
Jim Peters named one of Northeast PA's Top 20 Under 40
| Dec. 22, 2005 DANVILLE - Jim Peters, Senior Director, Geisinger Ventures was recently named one of Northeast Business Journal’s Top 20 Under 40. The designation recognizes 20 emerging leaders under age 40 in the Northeast, PA region.
As Senior Director of Geisinger Ventures, a six-person ventures group launched within Geisinger Health System, Peters is spearheading venture creation from the idea conception stage through business launch and beyond. Areas of concentration include Information Services, Healthcare IT, and Healthcare Services. Prior to joining Geisinger Ventures, Jim’s career progressed from software consultant, to entrepreneur, to venture capitalist. Most recently, he was a Principal at Updata Venture Partners, a $250 million software and healthcare IT focused venture capital firm. Peters earned a BA from Lehigh University with Phi Beta Kappa honors and an MBA in Finance from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He serves as an Adjunct Lecturer at Lehigh University’s College of Business and Economics where he created and teaches MBA entrepreneurship courses in Financing Start-Ups and Due Diligence. |

An alumnus of the National Venture Capital Association’s VC Institute, Mr. Peters is active in the venture capital community, having served on the Selection Committee for the Mid-Atlantic Venture Conference, VC Committee for the New York New Media Conference, and member of the Greater Philadelphia Venture Group and Jersey Angel Network. Peters has started a number of perennial fundraising initiatives, and is an advocate for Parkinson’s Disease.
He is a member of the Investment Committee of the Scranton Plan, an elected Incorporator of Lackawanna Industrial Fund Enterprises, and a former advisor for the Ben Franklin Technology Partners of NEPA. He is also a certified auto mechanic, fluent in Italian and enjoys cooking.
