James R. Elmore, MD, named Distinguished Fellow by society

 DANVILLE — James R. Elmore, MD, was recently named a Distinguished Fellow by the Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS). Each year, the society honors only four vascular surgeons in the country with this award.

Dr. Elmore serves as director of endovascular services at Geisinger Medical Center and is program director of the vascular surgery fellowship. He is also a clinical associate professor of surgery at Thomas Jefferson University - Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia. Dr. Elmore’s vascular fellowship training took place at Mayo Clinic.

“This is a very special recognition,” said David Franklin, M.D., director of vascular surgery at GMC. “Dr. Elmore is only the second vascular surgeon in the history of Geisinger Health System to be recognized.”

SVS is an organization of 2,300 surgeons dedicated to advancing excellence and innovation in vascular health.
