Innovation Chief to Speak at World Healthcare Congress

Jan. 16, 2008, DANVILLE – Ronald A. Paulus, MD, MBA, Geisinger’s Chief Technology and Innovation Officer will address the nation’s healthcare CEOs at the 6th Annual World Health Care Congress, to be held April 14-15, 2009, in Washington, DC.

As part of Dr. Paulus’s presentation (slated for Wednesday, April 15 from 2:55 to 3:30 pm), he will discuss Geisinger’s innovative model for collaborative, consumer preference-based care plans and present early pilot results.

6th Annual 2009 World Health Care Congress is the most progressive forum to achieve an affordable, accountable U.S. health-care system. Co-sponsored by The Wall Street Journal and Fortune, the 2009 conference will include 2000 CEOs, senior executives and government officials from the nation’s largest employers, hospitals, health systems, health plans, pharmaceutical and biotech companies and leading government agencies.

Immediately prior to joining Geisinger, Dr. Paulus was Chief Healthcare Officer for Quovadx, Inc. (previously NASDAQ: QVDX), responsible for healthcare strategy for this software and services company with more than 450 employees and 10,000 customers worldwide.  Prior to its acquisition by Quovadx in September 2003, Dr. Paulus was co-founder, President and CEO of CareScience, Inc. (previously NASDAQ: CARE), where he had also served as President and Chief Operating Officer. CareScience, now part of Premier healthcare informatics, is a clinical solutions and data analytics provider that aims to improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare and to support drug and product development for life sciences companies.
