Geisinger vascular lab receives accreditation
Feb. 27, 2009, STATE COLLEGE – The Vascular Lab at Geisinger-Gray’s Woods has been awarded accreditation from the Intersocietal Commission for Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (ICAVL), becoming the only ICAVL-certified vascular lab in the Centre and Clinton County area.
The accreditation also covers the vascular lab outreach services to Geisinger-Philipsburg and Geisinger-Lock Haven.
“We are extremely proud of this accreditation,” said Bud Price, associate vice president for regional operations. “Offering vascular lab services in Centre and Clinton Counties reflects Geisinger’s commitment to provide quality healthcare to our patients.”
The vascular lab at Geisinger-Gray’s Woods offers testing for peripheral arterial disease and deep-vein thrombosis. The vascular lab performs carotid artery, aortic, renal artery, mesenteric artery studies, and PAD with treadmill component. It is staffed with two registered vascular technicians, who conduct the various tests.
The ICAVL was established in 1990 to provide a peer-review process of vascular laboratory accreditation and promote the high quality noninvasive vascular diagnostic testing of these accredited labs.
Geisinger-Gray’s Woods is a two-story, 64,000-square-foot multispecialty clinic that opened in August. It houses both primary and specialty care and expanded ancillary services, including a state-of-the-art imaging center.
