Geisinger to Hold "Lifesaver" Heart Health Screening for Firefighters
WILKES-BARRE- The Richard and Marion Pearsall Heart Hospital at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center will present a free ‘Lifesaver’ Heart Health Screening for Mountaintop firefighters, EMS and police on Wednesday, April 30 from 2 to 7 pm at Wright Township Fire Department, 477 South Main Road, Mountaintop.
Participants will receive cholesterol screenings and blood pressure exams, as well as educational materials and heart healthy information.
“The statistics indicate that firefighters are at increased risk for heart attack and cardiovascular disease,” said Al Casale, MD, Director of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Geisinger Health System. “The job is risky enough, so it’s important for firefighters to get this message and take the right steps toward heart health. This screening is a good first step.”
Appointments are not necessary for this event, and participants are invited to stop by at their convenience. For more information, please call 800.275.6401 and ask for “Carelink.”
