Geisinger physicians named to Best Doctors list
Feb. 6, 2008 - Forty-three Geisinger Health System physicians have been named to the national Best Doctors list for 2007-2008. Compiled by Best Doctors, Inc., this list highlights the top 3% to 5% of doctors in countries where the program is present, and is based on survey responses from physicians who recommend doctors to whom they would send their own family members.
"Geisinger is very proud of all of our physicians, and the individuals represented on the list of Best Doctors are among our most senior and experienced clinicians,” said Bruce Hamory, MD, Geisinger Executive Vice President and System Chief Medical Officer. “They certainly merit this honor, and our representative of all our physicians. Our communities are well served by all these superb doctors."
The Best Doctors list is designed as a reference tool to help individuals obtain quality medical advice quickly and gain a better understanding of whether they have been diagnosed correctly, receive a proper treatment proposal, and whether the physicians treating them are experts in their field. Placement on the Best Doctors list cannot be purchased. The only way a physician can be listed is to receive a sufficiently high overall score through a peer review process.
Founded in 1989 by two prominent physicians affiliated with Harvard Medical School, Best Doctors, Inc. seeks to provide greater access to dependable, high quality medical information and care for those suffering from serious illnesses and injuries.
