Geisinger physician offers Halloween safety information
Oct. 27, 2009, DANVILLE – Safety during trick-or-treating is important, said John Skiendzielewski, M.D., director, Emergency Medicine Services at Geisinger Medical Center. No child should ever trick-or-treat alone, so make sure that children travel in groups with at least one adult supervising. Never let a child or group of children enter a house, and trick-or-treat in familiar areas, Dr. Skiendzielewski added.
Costumes should not drag on the ground or restrict eyesight, and children should carry flashlights and walk on sidewalks or the side of the road. Encourage children to walk, not run, and always be aware of passing cars when crossing or walking on the street.
