
Geisinger pediatric surgeon to participate in book-signing event
Feb. 8, 2010, DANVILLE – The Auxiliary at Geisinger Medical Center (GMC) is hosting a book discussion and signing on Feb. 26 featuring Geisinger pediatric surgeon Chris Coppola, M.D., MBA, FACS.
The event, which will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at GMC’s Henry Hood Center for Health Research, will feature a discussion by Dr. Coppola on his experiences in Iraq, which serve as the basis for his book “Coppola: A Pediatric Surgeon in Iraq.” A book signing will follow, and copies of Dr. Coppola’s book will be available for purchase at the event.
Dr. Coppola served as the Consultant to the Surgeon General of the Air Force in Pediatric Surgery. Deployed to Iraq in 2005, and again in 2007, Dr. Coppola writes about his experiences inside a military trauma hospital, illustrating the commitment he had for both U.S. soldiers and Iraqi families.
The event is $20 and books will be available for $24.95. All proceeds will benefit pediatric initiatives supported by the Auxiliary. Light hors d’oeuvres and desserts will be served.
