Geisinger laboratory director selected to serve as associate editor of journal

July 29, 2009, DANVILLE - Paul Bourbeau, PhD, director, Geisinger Laboratory Medicine, was recently appointed to a five-year term as associate editor for the Journal of Clinical Microbiology, a publication of the American Society for Microbiology (ASM).

In this role, Bourbeau will select reviewers to critique manuscripts submitted for publication in the Journal of Clinical Microbiology, as well as make editorial decisions on submitted manuscripts.

“It is an honor to be selected for such an esteemed position, and to be working with colleagues from the Mayo Clinic, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center who were also selected for editorial positions,” said Bourbeau. “I look forward to being a contributing member of the ASM and fulfilling its mission for improved health, and economic and environmental well-being.”

The Journal of Clinical Microbiology publishes the most current research on the microbiological aspects of human and animal infections and infestations.

The American Society for Microbiology is the largest life science association, with 42,000 members worldwide.
