Geisinger Ventures CEO featured in Fortune magazine
Aug 21, 2006 WILKES BARRE — Denise Prince, chief executive officer of Geisinger Ventures, is featured in the Aug. 21 issue of Fortune magazine.
Prince, who joined Geisinger in 1989, discusses how she has helped Geisinger Health System use resources such as the state-of-art electronic recordkeeping system to start new enterprises and build its business. With the blessing of Geisinger President and CEO Glenn Steele Jr., MD, she launched a for-profit venture capital unit to build new opportunities and support the system’s charitable mission. Geisinger Ventures accomplishments thus far include this week’s grand opening of the first CareWorks Convenient Healthcare walk-in clinic located in a Weis Market in Clarks Summit.
The article is titled “Have You Outgrown Your Job?” (.pdf) and profiles several young entrepreneurs who broke through the so-called “gray ceiling” of upper management dominated by Baby Boomers. Senior writer Anne Fisher interviewed Prince in April.
