Geisinger - Tunkhannock to open new clinic Nov. 6
Oct. 25, TUNKHANNOCK - Geisinger will welcome patients to its new facility on Trieble Road in Tunkhannock beginning Monday, Nov. 6. The opening comes after little more than a year of construction to bring the 25,000 square foot building to completion.
Physician offices currently housed at Geisinger clinics in Meshoppen, Tunkhannock and at Tyler Memorial Hospital now will be located in this new convenient, state-of-the-art facility. Services include Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, General Surgery, ENT (Ears, Nose and Throat), OB/GYN, Cardiology, Audiology, Neurology, Otolaryngology, Thoracic Surgery and Ophthalmology. A CareSite Pharmacy and Optometrist Dr. Davis Haire also will be located in the clinic. Other services include on-site laboratory, x-ray, DXA (bone density) scanning and nutrition counseling.
Another feature of the clinic is a new centralized appointment number – 570.996.2700. Patients will now use this one convenient telephone number when calling the clinic for appointments. The fully-integrated telephone system will allow easy transfer of calls to various departments within the building.
The opening of the new facility coincides with Geisinger’s 20th anniversary of serving patients in Wyoming County.
A ribbon cutting and community open house is planned for Sunday, November 19, 2006, from 2-4 pm. Free health screenings are planned (including blood pressures, Body Mass Indexing or BMI’s, glucose, heights and weights). CareSite Pharmacy will offer a Brown Bag Medication Check, and visitors are encouraged to bring both prescription and non-prescription medications for a review by the registered pharmacist who will be looking for possible dangerous interactions. Tours of the new facility and light refreshments will be offered as well.
John Gardner, MD, Medical Director for Geisinger Medical Groups in Wyoming County, said, “The opening of this new facility is evidence of Geisinger’s commitment to advancing quality care here in Wyoming County. Over the last twenty years we have continued to provide quality care to the residents of this community, while bringing higher-end specialty services to the area as well.”
