Geisinger Names New Regional Medical Director

STATE COLLEGE– Raymond F. Nungesser, MD, has been named Regional Medical Director for Geisinger Medical Groups in the Centre, Clinton, Juniata and Mifflin Counties. As Regional Medical Director, Nungesser is responsible for development and expansion of clinical programs and facilities in this key hub of Geisinger Health System. He will also work with local referring physicians to facilitate Geisinger’s role as a leading healthcare resource in the region. 


Nungesser joined Geisinger in 1995 as an associate in family medicine, practicing in the Bloomsburg and Millville areas. He was appointed Department Director of the Geisinger clinics in Columbia County in 2000. In 2004, he was named Community Practice Interim Chairman and in 2005 took over as Department Director for the Geisinger Medical Groups in Lewistown/Mifflin.


Nungesser received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College and completed his residency in family medicine at Williamsport Hospital. He is certified by the American Board of  Family Practice.


Most recently, he received an MBA from the University of Massachusetts Isenberg School of Management.


Dr. Nungesser and his wife, Dorothy, reside in State College.  They have three grown children, Kristen, Brian and Rob.
