Geisinger Medical Group - Dallas joins local Child Safety Expo

DALLAS - Geisinger Medical Group-Dallas joins State Representative Karen Boback for her office’s first annual Child Safety Expo. The event is free and open to the public. It will take place at Lake Lehman Junior/Senior High School on Thursday, August 16, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The expo is a chance for parents and their children to learn about health and safety together. Geisinger’s table will feature a bike safety game as well as an interactive game called Glitterbug, which teaches about germs and proper hand washing techniques in a way that is fun for kids. Parents can speak directly to med pros during the event and pick up informational literature on health and safety.

“We’re happy to share our knowledge of easy ways to keep kids healthy and safe,” says Kathy Doyle, RN, nurse team leader at Geisinger Medical Group-Dallas. “Simple things, like washing your hands and being more aware of your surroundings when bike riding, really do make a difference.”

The Child Safety Expo is targeted toward children in grades K-6, as well as their parents. Other vendors include law enforcement groups, emergency responders, and other state and local agencies. For more information, call Rep. Boback’s office at 1.800.278.3930.
