
Geisinger Fox Chase cancer program begins hematology/oncology services at Tyler Memorial Hospital
Tunkhannock —Paula Ronjon, MD, an associate in hematology/oncology at the Henry Cancer Center at Geisinger Wyoming Valley, is now seeing patients at Tyler Memorial Hospital in Tunkhannock. The Henry Cancer Center’s cancer program is a partnership between Geisinger and Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia.
“We are pleased to provide hematology and oncology services to patients in Wyoming County” said Mohammed Mohiuddin, MD, medical director of the Geisinger Fox Chase cancer program at the Henry Cancer Center at Geisinger Wyoming Valley. “This effort furthers our mission to develop cancer prevention strategies, cultivate cancer research, enhance diagnostic techniques, and to provide access to advanced treatment, clinical trials and research for people in northeastern Pennsylvania.”
Dr. Ronjon will be providing adult hematology services including; consultation, diagnosis and treatment of a full range of hematologic and oncologic options. In addition, she will provide treatment and management of patients using chemotherapy and transfusion therapies. "We are delighted to welcome Dr. Ronjon to Tyler," said Raoul Walsh, president and chief executive officer of Tyler Memorial Hospital. “This partnership will provide a much-needed service to our community."
Board certified in hematology and internal medicine, Dr. Ronjon is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, American College of Physicians/American Society of Internal Medicine, and American Medical Association. She earned her medical degree at Dhaka Medical College, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, and completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at The Brooklyn Hospital Center, affiliated with The New York Hospital-Cornell University Medical Center, where she was named Outstanding Intern in 1996.
Prior to joining The Henry Cancer Center, Dr. Ronjon practiced hematology/oncology medicine in New Hartford, New York, and served as Assistant Clinical Instructor and Hematology/Oncology Fellow at Stony Brook University Hospital and Medical Center, the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Northport, New York. She has completed research and is the author of professional publications on treatments for multiple myeloma patients and patients with metastatic breast cancer.
