
Dallas native, James Hora, MD, PhD, joins the Neurology Department at Geisinger Wyoming Valley
WILKES-BARRE- James F. Hora, MD, PhD, has joined the Neurology Department at Geisinger Wyoming Valley as an associate in neurophysiology. He joins John McBurney, MD, Richard Somma, MD, and Mitchell Gross, MD.
Board certified in neurology and electrodiagnostic medicine, Dr. Hora specializes in the diagnosis and management of neuromuscular disease including compressive nerve disorders such as carpal tunnel syndrome, muscular dystrophy and Lou Gehrig’s disease. He has extensive training in Electromyography (EMG) - a diagnostic test for evaluating neuromuscular physiology. Dr. Hora joins Geisinger Wyoming Valley after serving ten years as Chief of Neurology for the University of Tennessee College Of Medicine in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Dr. Hora graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and received his PhD in biochemistry from University of Vermont. Following a research fellowship in biochemistry and molecular biology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, Dr. Hora received his medical degree from Loyola University in Maywood, Illinois. He completed an internship, neurology residency and fellowship in neuromuscular disease at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, North Carolina.
Dr. Hora is a member of the American Medical Association, American Academy of Neurology and American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine.
