Allinson promoted to Director, Geisinger Ventures

March 5, 2007, DANVILLE -  In his new position, Allinson will focus on technology commercialization, licensing and business development activities in a number of areas niche areas including collaborations and relationship building in translational medicine and molecular diagnostics, medical devices, biomarkers, genomics, and drug discovery.

He will also support other technology-related projects including Geisinger national healthcare laboratory platform, healthcare information, urology, orthopedics and emergency medical devices.

Allinson joined Geisinger Ventures in January 2005 as an Associate and has been instrumental in launching Ventures’ technology commercialization program.

Prior to Geisinger Ventures, Allinson helped grow Agentase — from its inception to its acquisition by ICX.  He also served as a consultant to Carnegie Mellon University, Innovation Works (a Ben Franklin venture partner) and Fluorous Technologies (a drug discovery firm).

He is a recipient of SMC Business Councils Manufacturing Entrepreneur of the Year Award and Pittsburgh Technology Council’s EnterPrize award.  He authored a biotechnology patent (U.S. #6,762,213) in addition to government research (National Institutes of Health, Department of Defense, SBIR/STTR), industry research and technical journals (Biotechnology & Bioengineering, Encyclopedia of Catalysis).

Allinson received an MBA from the Tepper School at Carnegie Mellon University, and a dual BS in chemical engineering and chemistry from the University of Pittsburgh.

He is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association, Association of University Technology Managers, Licensing Executives Society, and a popular lecturer on ventures, technology and entrepreneurial business including Bucknell University.

He lives in Lewisburg with his wife and child.
