
Albert Bothe Jr. MD, named Associate Chief Medical Officer and Chief Quality Officer at Geisinger Health System
Feb. 1, DANVILLE— Albert Bothe Jr. MD, has joined Geisinger Health System as Associate Chief Medical Officer and Chief Quality Officer, according to an announcement by President and Chief Executive Officer Glenn Steele, Jr., MD, and Executive Vice President/Chief Medical Officer Bruce Hamory, MD.
“Dr. Bothe is an exemplary physician leader who will play a key role in Geisinger’s commitment to strive for perfection in everything that we do,” stated Dr. Steele. “Geisinger and the people we serve will benefit from his expertise and involvement.”
Prior to coming to Geisinger, Dr. Bothe served in numerous roles at the University of Chicago including Associate Dean & Executive Director of the Faculty Practice Plan and Professor of Surgery.
He was previously associated with New England Deaconess Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts, in a number of positions including Associate Chairman, Department of Surgery; Director, General Surgical Training Program; and Interim Chairman, Department of Surgery.
A graduate of Johns Hopkins University, he earned a BMS Degree at Dartmouth Medical School and his Doctor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Bothe also holds a Master of Medical Management degree from the Tulane School of Public Health & Tropical Medicine. He completed a surgical internship at Harvard Medical School, Boston City Hospital; surgical residency at New England Deaconess Hospital; and was a Clinical Fellow, Clinical Instructor and Associate Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School.
The author and co-author of numerous articles, books and monographs on a variety of health and medical issues and topics, Dr. Bothe is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, member of the Association for Academic Surgery, and a member of the Board of Advisors, American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition. He is also a member of the American College of Physician Executives, the Association of American Medical Colleges, and the American Medical Association CPT Advisory Committee.
