Quality care in the heart of our community
Geisinger-Kistler has grown with the Wilkes-Barre community for more than 20 years, and we continue to grow. As Geisinger Health System's largest clinic in Luzerne County, we bring you and your neighbors a wide variety of medical specialties and services.
Located in the heart of Wilkes-Barre, Geisinger-Kistler also features an array of services, including an on-site pharmacy. And if you need the advanced care or testing available only at a hospital, Geisinger Wyoming Valley and Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre are only a short drive away.
Our concern for the community extends even further, though. We sponsor the area YMCA's Health Kids program, and we even donated land that is now home to the popular community garden.
The CareSite Pharmacies at Geisinger Medical Groups can fill all your prescriptions before you leave your doctor's office. The onsite pharmacy staff is available to address any questions or concerns you may have regarding your pharmacy care. They now offer over 120 medications for $4 (30-day supply), flavored medications for children and free local delivery. You can even order refills by calling the pharmacy or visiting www.caresiterx.com.
Kistler Family Medicine Residency Program
The Kistler Family Medicine Residency is named in honor of David W. Kistler, MD, former Chief of Staff at Geisinger Wyoming Valley and a family physician in the Wyoming Valley for more than 50 years. The Family Medicine residents provide care at Geisinger community practice sites at Dallas, Kistler Clinic, Lake Scranton and Mountaintop.
Patients and families can rest assured they are receiving the best care and treatment when being seen by a family medicine resident. Having already finished medical school, Geisinger residents are well trained to serve as the primary care physician for patients.
Residents work in teams with nurses, physician’s assistants and board certified family physicians. Each day that a resident cares for patients in a Geisinger office a Geisinger family physician reviews the care plan and answers residents’ questions.

Geisinger's Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Program, staffed by CPSL physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants, provides both acute and transitional care to patients living in area nursing homes, enhancing the care they already receive from nursing home staff. The SNF Program streamlines patient transition from physician offices or hospitals to the nursing home and improves patient outcomes to reduce the need for hospitalization, working closely with nursing home staff to coordinate and improve patient care.
