Intended Audience

This course is designed for physicians, nurses, social workers, clergy, allied healthcare professionals, community members and anyone else interested in ethical implications of genetics.

Objectives

At the completion of this course, the participant should be able to:
  • discuss adaptations of the informed consent process in light of new concerns raised by genomic medicine
  • describe the types of unexpected test results that may occur with whole genome microarray genetic testing in a clinical setting
  • utilize the example of unexpected results to prepare for test results from whole genome or exome DNA sequencing
  • explain public perceptions about the return of individual research results and the implications for future research projects
  • examine reasons why one would use genetic testing in clinical practice

A full refund will be given for any cancellation received up to one week prior to the course. Less than one week, a $35 fee will be assessed. No refunds for no shows.
